Ilia Calderón skin condition: Is Ilia Calderón vitiligo?

The journalist does have a skin condition called vitiligo. Vitiligo is a chronic autoimmune disorder that causes patches of skin to lose pigment or color. This happens when melanocytes, skin cells that make pigment, are attacked and destroyed, causing the skin to turn a milky-white color.

Ilia Calderón revealed that almost three years ago she was diagnosed with this condition, which meant a personal work of acceptance.   the presenter took to Instagram to share a message of support and empowerment for those dealing with similar conditions.

Calderón made history when she replaced former co-anchor Maria Elena Salinas on Noticiero Univision. This made her the first Afro-Latina to anchor a weekday primetime newscast for a major broadcast network in the United States.
