The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has taken a significant step by directing the Clerk of Parliament to present a copy of the report from the ad hoc committee investigating the leaked tape on the plot to remove the IGP from office to the President for any further action.
After Parliament’s adoption of the committee’s report, it was revealed that three senior Police officers – COP Alex George Mensah, Supt. George Lysander Asare, and Supt. Emmanuel Eric Gyebi – were found to have misconducted themselves. This misconduct is considered a major offense under Police regulations, and they must face sanctions according to Police disciplinary procedures.
Speaker Bagbin made it clear that the report has been adopted and instructed the Clerk to Parliament to provide a copy of the report to the President as Chairman of the Police Council for any necessary further action.
This development underscores the importance of accountability and adherence to regulations within the Police force. It is essential for the integrity and reputation of the Police service to uphold disciplinary standards and take appropriate action when misconduct is discovered.
