Over the course of his career, Pop’s music has included a variety of styles, such as garage rock, punk rock, hard rock, heavy metal, art rock, new wave, jazz, blues, and electronic.

Even though his fame varied, several of Pop’s songs, such as the Stooges’ “Search and Destroy” and “I Wanna Be Your Dog” and his solo successes “Lust for Life,” “The Passenger,” and “Real Wild Child (Wild One),” have gained widespread recognition.

His sole Top 40 U.S. success from 1990 was “Candy,” a duet with Kate Pierson of the B-52s. Co-writer Bowie’s re-recording of Pop’s song “China Girl,” which he released as the second single from his most financially successful album, Let’s Dance, helped make the song more well-known (1983). Throughout his career, Bowie re-recorded and performed a lot of Pop tunes.

Iggy Pop awards

His solo album The Idiot was hailed by Siouxsie Sioux as “a re-affirmation that our suspicions were true: the man is a genius,” and has been credited as having a significant influence on a number of post-punk, electronic, and industrial artists, including Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, and Joy Division. In 2010, he was admitted to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame alongside the Stooges. Pop was honoured with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in January 2020.
