Iga Swiatek is a Polish tennis player who was born on May 31, 2001, in Warsaw, Poland.
Dorota and Tomasz are her parents. Tomasz, her father, was a former professional rower who competed in the men’s quadruple sculls event in the Seoul Summer Olympics in 1988. Her mother, Dorota, was an orthodontist.
She began as a swimmer before becoming seriously involved in tennis.
After briefly competing on the ITF junior circuit in 2013, she made her professional debut three years later. She won her first three titles when she was just 15 years old.
She made her WTA Tour debut in 2019 and reached her maiden tour-level final at the Ladies Open Lugano that year. She became the first Polish player to win a major championship.
