Ghana’s economic issues will improve, according to Movement for Change founder Alan Kojo Kyerematen, provided corruption and related activities are cut by 10%.
Mr. Kyerematen claims that corruption is to blame for Ghana’s debt to the IMF and its foreign creditors since a small number of people have accumulated money at the expense of the country.
“If we could just abate corruption by 10%, only by 10%, it will increase our economic performance by double of that, about 20%,” he remarked on February 3 in an interview with JoyNews’ Newsfile.
According to him, corruption has an impact on the entire nation. Thus, he intends to negotiate a “citizen’s contract” with the populace if he is elected.
He makes a commitment to vigorously combat corruption in this deal. He also discussed how these problems will be addressed by his Great Transformational Programme (GTP).
One of the six components of the GTP is the economic cluster, which will deal with financial and policy issues. Modifying our Constitution’s provisions to enhance our governance and correct misbehavior is another aspect.
He stated that issues with our Constitution and leaders are the reason Ghana continues to rank poorly in terms of corruption, and that his GTP will address such issues.
