Elvis Presley’s iconic Graceland mansion, once the home of the King of Rock and Roll, is facing the possibility of being sold at auction.
This comes after his daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, allegedly failed to repay a $3.8 million loan.
Located at 3763 Elvis Presley Blvd in Memphis, Tennessee, Graceland is a 13.8-acre estate that was purchased by Elvis himself in 1957. The property was turned into a museum and tribute to the music legend after his death in 1977, with ownership passing to Lisa Marie in 1993.
Following Lisa Marie’s untimely death in 2023, her daughter, actress Riley Keough, became the sole heir of Graceland. However, the estate is now at risk of being auctioned off on May 23, 2024, due to the alleged unpaid loan.
Keough has filed a lawsuit claiming that the loan is fake and that the signatures on the deed are forged. She is fighting to prevent the sale of her grandfather’s beloved home and has obtained a temporary restraining order to halt the auction.
While the Presley family does not reside at Graceland, they do visit the estate from time to time. The mansion has become a popular tourist destination, with over 600,000 guests exploring the King’s former home each year.
Visitors can pay tribute to Elvis by touring the mansion, viewing his gold records and classic cars, and experiencing interactive exhibits. Adult tickets for the tour cost $82, and guests can also stay at the AAA Four-Diamond resort hotel, The Guest House at Graceland.
As the legal battle over Graceland continues, fans of Elvis Presley are eagerly awaiting the outcome and hoping that the music icon’s historic home will remain intact for future generations to enjoy.
