Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, the Commissioner of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), has acknowledged that he has been operating without a contract.
On Monday, January 29, 2024, the Public Account Committee met, and the Minority in Parliament brought up an issue about the GRA Boss’s retirement, drawing scrutiny from the committee.
Sam George, the Ningo-Prampram MP, took it upon himself to question the GRA on what he views as a matter of public interest. Two years after reaching his obligatory 65-year retirement age, George asked the GRA Boss if he was employed on a contract.
Some members of the committee’s majority opposed the question, claiming it was out of order. This resulted in a lengthy dispute between the two factions inside the committee.
Dr. James Klutse Avedzi, the chairman of the committee, called a 45-minute adjournment of the meeting due to an unexpected malfunction of the public sound equipment in the committee room.
