Former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, has hinted at the possibility of stepping into the political arena by serving as the running mate to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. In an interview with Onua TV, Gyan addressed the rumors surrounding his potential candidacy with a sense of openness and humor.
While acknowledging the honor associated with such a role, Gyan made it clear that his primary focus remains on contributing to the advancement of sports in the country. As the chairman of the Sports Sub-Committee within Vice President Bawumia’s manifesto committee, Gyan expressed his dedication to utilizing his experience and knowledge to drive strategic initiatives for sports development.
With the upcoming December 7 elections on the horizon, Gyan is expected to play a significant role within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) by assisting in the formulation of sports-related policies and manifestos. Despite the speculation about his political aspirations, Gyan’s commitment to the sports sector remains unwavering as he continues to strive for positive change and progress in Ghana’s athletic landscape.
