Ghanaian football legend Dan Owusu has revealed the secret behind his success as a top striker in the country and Africa as a whole. Owusu, who played for Bofoakwa Tano, Asante Kotoko, and BA United, was known for his incredible goal-scoring abilities during his playing days.

The former football icon won the Ghana Premier League goal king prize three times in a row from 1974 to 1976. He attributed his goal-scoring prowess to watching and modeling his style after German football legend Gerd Muller.

Owusu expressed his disappointment with the current performance of strikers in the Ghana Premier League. He highlighted the lack of goals being scored in the league compared to previous years. With only five games left in the season, the leading top scorers have only managed to score twelve goals each.

Players like Stephen Amankona and Hamzah Issah of Berekum Chelsea and Hearts of Oak, respectively, have reached the twelve-goal mark, while Kotoko’s Steven Desse Mukwala has scored eleven goals.

In an interview with Kessben FM, Owusu emphasized the importance of composure and learning the art of goal-scoring. He stressed that strikers need to be patient and make smart decisions inside the 18-yard box.

Reflecting on his own challenges as a young striker, Owusu shared how he learned from watching Gerd Muller and seeking advice from legendary players like Rev. Osei Kofi. By studying and emulating the techniques of great strikers, Owusu was able to hone his skills and become a successful goal scorer.

His words serve as a reminder to current strikers in the Ghana Premier League to focus on developing their game and mastering the art of scoring goals with precision and composure.
