In a recent interview with Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, George Quaye emphasized the importance of mutual support among theatre producers to boost the industry’s growth.
Quaye expressed his commitment to sharing other people’s plays, even while running his own, to promote collaboration over competition.
He highlighted that the theatre industry is not at a level where competition should prevail and that the focus should be on building each other up for success.
He mentioned examples from the music industry, where artists like Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, Samini, King Promise, KiDi, Kuami Eugene are able to compete due to their global recognition.
Quaye believes that this level of recognition in the theatre industry is essential for healthy competition.
This mindset of collaboration over competition is crucial for the development and prosperity of the theatre industry in Ghana, as mutual support can lead to greater opportunities for all involved.
