The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Dome-Kwabenya Constituency, Aaron Michael Oquaye Jnr., is poised to clinch victory in the upcoming December 7 elections.

Despite facing criticism for helping a woman with her laundry during a visit to a home in the constituency, Oquaye Jnr. remains confident in his chances.

In an interview with TV3’s Evelyn Tengmaa, Ocuaye Jnr. expressed his determination to address the development needs of the constituents and serve them to the best of his abilities. This would be his third attempt at representing the people of Dome-Kwabenya, after previously losing in the NPP parliamentary primaries.

His opponent, Adwoa Safo, has been in office for 12 years, taking over from Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye in 2013. However, Oquaye Jnr. managed to secure victory in the recent NPP primary, attributing his success to his presence and engagement with the community.

Reflecting on his previous defeats, Oquaye Jnr. highlighted the challenges of being away from the constituency during crucial moments. He emphasized the importance of connecting with the people and earning their trust, as evidenced by a viral video of him assisting a woman with her laundry.

As a politician, Oquaye Jnr. understands the significance of establishing a strong rapport with the public. With the Dome Kwabenya constituency boasting a large voter population of 172,000, the stakes are high for both candidates vying for the seat. Oquaye Jnr.’s simple and approachable personality could be the winning factor in the upcoming elections, as he continues to engage with constituents and address their concerns.
