Queen of Ghana Comedy, Jacinta Ocansey, has recently shared how she navigates the challenges that come with being a comedian.
In an interview with Joy Entertainment’s Becky, Jacinta revealed that she has learned to ignore many of the obstacles that come her way.
“I think I have been around long enough to know that I need to ignore a lot of things. So I have learnt to ignore a lot of things. Either I’m cracking jokes about them or I’m ignoring them,” she said.
This approach stems from the reports that many creatives struggle to open up about their problems, leading to feelings of isolation and, in some cases, depression. Despite these challenges, Jacinta has made a name for herself in the comedy scene, performing in top shows in Ghana and Nigeria.
Some of the shows she has graced include Comedy Night with Buchi in Lagos, Shakara and the Gang in Lagos, Comedy Express, Girl Talk, Laughline, Live Comedy Thursdays, and Lord of the Ribs. She has also been a part of the Easter Comedy Show, DKB Live, DKB Point of View, and Akwaaba UK Comedy Night, among others.
In addition to her stand-up performances, Jacinta has hosted her own annual comedy specials. In 2022, she held her first show titled ‘One Night Stand’ and followed it up with ‘Woman on Top’ in 2023.
