Ghanaian international Abdul Fatawu Issahaku claims that,, as a child, he was inspired by Black Stars captain Andre Ayew. The Leicester City winger described it as an incredible experience to be on the same field as his childhood hero.
In September 2021, Issahaku made his debut for the national team as the Black Stars defeated Zimbabwe 3-1 in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying match.
The forward stated, “When I was growing up, I looked up to André [Ayew] because I liked how he was playing and how much passion he had for football,” in an interview with the official media of Leicester City Football Club. I simply adored him at the time because he gave the team his all every time. I now play with him for Ghana because I aspire to be like him.”
It was truly incredible to be in a field alongside him. It was a wonderful experience to meet him. The most thrilling aspect was that he led the way when I arrived. He began to counsel me on how to get better at the game.”
In the second division of English football, the Ghanaian is currently on loan to the Championship team from Sporting CP. He has scored two goals and assisted on eight more.
