Michael Okyere Baafi, the New Juaben South MP, claims he has done an excellent job representing the district and merits a second term to carry on the good work.
Speaking at the Electoral Commission’s endorsement ceremony, Mr. Baafi who is also the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry was the unopposed parliamentary candidate for the constituency.
After Madam Grace Safori was disqualified from the competition, he faced no opposition in his second attempt to run for Parliament on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ticket.
He proudly cited building one of the largest constituency offices as one of his first term’s accomplishments as an MP, ending the years of renting space.
He noted that Koforidua, the capital of the Eastern Region, has experienced impressive structural development, ranging from road paving to the establishment of health and educational facilities.
Mr. Baafi stated that in order to increase the constituency’s human resource capability base, hundreds of young people have received scholarships.
“There are many other developmental projects in the pipeline, and we cannot afford to change our voting pattern come December 2024, to ensure continuity and perfect execution of my agenda,” he said.
The NPP’s deputy general secretary, Mr. Haruna Mohammed, informed the delegates and party’s throng that the “breaking of the eight” was a group agenda requiring everyone to pitch in.
“The NPP remains the best political party in terms of good governance and development in Ghana, so let’s all come together and trumpet the NPP achievements to break the eight come December”.
Four other regional incumbents, including the MP for New Juaben South, faced no opposition during the recently concluded primary.
