Blakk Rasta, a popular media personality and artist, has challenged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s free senior high school program.
He stated that the policy has failed to provide the anticipated level of education.
He further stated that the diets supplied to these youngsters are not nutritional enough.
He also expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that students had a limited amount of study time but a long vacation, which he believes is detrimental to their mental health.
Blakk Rasta, speaking on the Urban Blend show on 3FM monitored by GhanaWeb, branded the Free SHS a “scam” because of how it was handled and demanded a reassessment.
“What type of education are we providing to our children? Free SHS is a hoax. What type of education is ‘you go to school for one month and sit at home for 13 months?’ Extra classes left, right, and center, milking students night and day. Is this common sense to you?
“I despise this [Free] SHS education in its current form more than I despise Satan. You go to school and they offer you kenkey and soup. I’ve heard some schools refer to it as ‘gas’ because when you put it in and lift the lid, it feels like gas, extremely light. They put the fish head in there for the twelve kids to share. Is that your idea of free SHS?” He was furious.
Some educationists, politicians, and other significant figures in the country have opposed the Free SHS policy, arguing that it should be revisited to address the shortcomings.
However, the administration has resisted the requests, claiming that it is on the correct course despite the difficulties.
