Ghanaian rapper Derrick Sarfo Kantanka, popularly known as Amerado, has declared that he will never turn his back on rap music.
In an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, Amerado emphasized that the name ‘Amerado’ has always been associated with rap music.
Amerado expressed his dedication to rap music, stating, “Everyone who knows me knows that I can never turn my back on rap music. Amerado has always been known as a rapper and I am always going to stick to that.” Despite dabbling in singing for exposure to a wider audience, Amerado made it clear that he has not earned more money from singing than rap.
He explained, “Singing introduced me to a wider and new set of audience but it is never true that singing had paid off more than the rap. Both have helped me equally.” When asked to choose between rap music and singing, Amerado firmly chose rap, reaffirming his loyalty to the genre.
“I am grateful for both rapping and singing, but if I had to choose between them, it will be rap over singing. It’s just me trying to evolve and find myself properly,” Amerado stated. Despite the challenges he faced initially, Amerado remains committed to his roots in rap music.
