Controversial singer Habeed Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has described himself as a regen of the later Afrobeat pioneer, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
He said and distinguished that his fans gave him the title “newborn Fela” and totaled with it.
Meanwhile, in the latest and contemporary occurrence of the Bae U Barbi show, curiosity made me ask, and Portable said: “I didn’t give myself the title, ‘Newborn Fela.’ My fans furnished it to me workwise, and I think I petitioned for it as they made it available to me. You know I have said a lot of fans; my fans brought me to this point.”.
To those still calling him an up-and-coming musician, Portable said, “Which superstar do you think or know is bigger than me in Nigeria? I am the only one they are talking about now: a musician who is trending. My talk is trending, my slang is trending, my movements are trending, and in fact, my dressing is trending.
He noted strongly that “early last year, I was imminent; this year, I am also approaching. I will be up and coming every day. Unending with new glory every day. Newborn Fela. Every year is my year.”
