I am shocked – Atta Akyea on Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu’s resignation

Samuel Atta Akyea, the member of parliament for the Abuakwa South constituency in the Eastern Region, has expressed shock over Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu’s resignation.

He called the removal “submarine tactics,” believing it would discourage others from giving their lives to public service.

“I am a little shocked, but I do not know what submarine tactics they employed. In an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem Thursday, stated, “We all thought this was not the time to take such decisions because it would only worry the party.”

Once President Akufo-Addo met with the majority caucus, the Suame MP tendered his resignation.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Manifesto Committee Chairman has since been appointed.

But Mr. Atta Akyea contended that Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu could have continued to serve as Majority Leader even after being named Chairman of Dr. Bawumia’s Manifesto Committee.

“He could have just combined the two positions. “You cannot guarantee that he will dedicate all of his time to serving on Bawumia’s Manifesto Committee; once that role is completed, he will still be able to fulfill his responsibilities as Majority Leader,” he emphasized.
