A man in the Oti Region has been remanded in prison custody for inflicting cutlass wounds on his pregnant wife. Ibrahim Anas, the 42-year-old suspect, appeared before the Magistrate Court at Dambai and is set to reappear on June 14.
According to Detective Chief Inspector S.K. Gavor, the suspect attacked his wife on a farm in the Krachi Nchumuru District, leaving her with multiple wounds. The police received a distressed call about a woman screaming for help in the bush and found the victim in a pool of blood at the scene.
The victim sustained wounds on her stomach, forehead, mouth, shoulder, and hands, and was immediately taken to the Banda Health Centre and later transferred to Kpandai Polyclinic for further treatment.
Anas confessed to the crime, attributing his actions to being influenced by “satan and his fallen angels.” The suspect was apprehended by the police and his caution statement was obtained.
