Hulu has renewed its Emmy-winning series The Handmaid’s Tale for a sixth and final season, which will begin on September 14th.

Season depicts June (Elisabeth Moss) in the aftermath of Commander Waterford’s  (Joseph Fiennes) murder and the ramifications of her involvement in the heinous crime.
At the very least, she will have to deal with his widow Serena (Yvonne Strahovski) and, in some way, Gilead. But, most importantly, she will be compelled to reinvent her identity and purpose, which have been eternally altered.

Meanwhile, Commander Lawrence (Bradley Whitford) collaborates with Nick  (Max Minghella) and Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd) to reform Gilead and ascend to power.
But who knows what the Commander and Nick, who assisted June in obtaining Waterford for the killing, have up their sleeves?

The Testaments, a sequel to the series created by Bruce Miller, is currently in the works. The new series, based on Margaret Atwood’s novel of the same name, begins years after the events of Season 6.

“It’s been a great privilege to depict the narrative of Margaret Atwood’s pioneering novel and the chillingly contemporary universe,” Miller said in a statement. “We are thankful to Hulu and MGM for enabling us to tell this tale, which has sadly stayed as relevant as ever during its run, and we are grateful to Hulu and MGM for allowing us to tell it.”
