Hugo Hadrien Dominique Lloris, a goalie for Premier League team Tottenham Hotspur as well as the France national team, was born on December 26, 1986, in France. He has won the Ligue 1 Goalkeeper of the Year award from the National Union of Professional Footballers (UNFP) three times.

He helped Lyon reach the semi-finals of the Champions League for the first time.

He was named France’s first-choice keeper in 2008 and 2012 and captained his country at Euro 2012 and the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

He was part of the winning team at the 2005 UEFA European Under-19 Championship. In 2008, he was called up to the under-21 team for their Euro 2008 qualifying playoff against Germany.

Lloris made his debut for France in November 2008, playing the full 90 minutes in a 0–0 draw with Uruguay. He was named in Domenech’s 30-man preliminary squad to participate in the 2010 World Cup. French media dubbed him “Saint Lloris”, which is a play on the nickname of Real Madrid counterpart Iker Casillas.

On 21 June 2018, Lloris earned his 100th cap in France’s 1–0 win over Peru. On 15 July, he lifted the World Cup trophy as France defeated Croatia 4–2. On 4 December he tied Lillian Thuram’s record for the most capped player for France.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Hugo Lloris is considered by many to be one of the best goalkeepers in the world. He has been described as an “acrobatic shot-stopper” due to his agility and ability to produce numerous saves consistently throughout a given season.
