Hugh Richard Bonneville Williams DL is an English actor who was born on November 10, 1963.
He is best recognized for his role as Robert Crawley, Earl of Grantham, in the ITV period drama Downton Abbey.
His mother worked as a nurse, while his father was a urologist. He attended Dulwich College Preparatory School and Sherborne School, a private Dorset school.
Bonneville studied theology at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, after finishing secondary school. He went on to study acting at London’s Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art. Bonneville is also a National Youth Theatre alumnus.
