John Matthew Stafford is an American professional football quarterback who is presently a member of the National Football League’s Detroit Lions (NFL). He was born in Tampa, Florida on February 7, 1988.
He attended the University of Georgia after graduating from high school. He was voted All-America by ‘Pro Football Weekly’ in 2008 and MVP of the 2009 Capital One Bowl during his time as a member of the Georgia Bulldogs football team.
He signed a six-year, $41.7-million contract with the New York Jets a day before the 2008 NFL Draft.
He has spent his whole professional career with the Lions, having made his NFL debut in 2009. Stafford was born in Florida but spent portions of his boyhood in Georgia and Texas. He attended Highland Park High School and was trained by Randy Allen.
