Henry Patterson, sometimes known as Jack Higgins, was a British novelist. He was a fantastic thriller and spy novelist.
His novel The Eagle Has Landed, which spawned the 1976 film of the same name, sold over 50 million copies.
Higgins made his debut in writing with James Graham one of his aliases. The increasing popularity of his early work enabled him to take time away from teaching, which he finally left to become a full-time author.
He was born on July 27, 1929, in Newcastle upon Tyne, England.
