How long has Amanda Bynes been in a Conservatorship

Amanda Bynes’ conservatorship was finally ended by a California judge on Tuesday, liberating the former child star from her parents’ legal authority after almost nine years.

Why was Amanda Bynes in a Conservatorship?

After her issues with substance misuse led to a well-publicized spiral of erratic conduct and repeated arrests, Bynes was first placed under conservatorship in 2013.

“She believes her situation has improved and the protection of the court is no longer necessary,” her lawyer David A. Esquibias said when the actress requested to end the arrangement last month.

Amanda Bynes has been under conservatorship for 9 years.

Following what she has described as a terrible moment in her life, Bynes has been in a personal conservatorship since 2013. After her assets were put into a trust, the estate’s conservatorship was ended in 2017.

Amanda Bynes’ conservatorship was dissolved by a judge on Tuesday after her petition to end the arrangement was greeted with her parents’ full support.

Bynes’ father was named as trustee, while her mother maintained control over her medical and personal matters.

Following the ruling, Bynes issued a statement through her attorney, David Esquibias, thanking both her fans and her parents for their support.

“I’ve been working hard for several years to improve my health so that I can live and work freely,” she added, “and I’ll continue to emphasize my well-being in this new stage.”

“I am very thrilled about my next ventures, including my fragrance line, and will share more information as soon as I am able.”

Bynes’ attorney filed the termination at the end of February, and her parents, Lynn and Rick Bynes, backed her up completely.
