How is Thomas Tuchel doing after testing positive for Covid-19?
Chelsea manager Arno Michels issued an update on Thomas Tuchel, who tested positive for Covid-19 before the FA Cup match against Plymouth Argyle.
The Blues battled without their manager, forcing extra time against the League One side before Marcos Alonso rescued them with a stunning effort.
Michels spoke to the press after the game about Tuchel, who tested positive for Covid.
He stated: “First and foremost, I am unsure of Thomas’s current status or when he will return. We’re looking forward to the next few days since he has to follow the regulations of the government and is in self-isolation.
“We communicated with him (Thomas Tuchel) throughout the game.” He was involved in the planning, and it was obvious what we intended to achieve. We kept in touch throughout.
“We had 60 minutes where the score might have been 3-1. We were unfortunate with the crossbar and scored what was essentially an own goal. That caused us some problems, but the most important thing in the FA Cup is to get through, and that’s exactly what we achieved.”
Tuchel will be aiming to return for the Club World Cup final, if Chelsea makes it, next week in Abu Dhabi.
Due to his injury, he will miss Wednesday’s semi-final and will not travel with the squad.
