English Gutarist, Eric Clapton has won a court battle against a German woman who sold a pirated CD on an online selling site, eBay.

The unidentified woman is believed to have sold the compact disc for €9.95 (£8.45), but it triggered a legal dispute with the guitarist.

A legal team backing him took action, and the German woman was soon found guilty of copyright infringement.

Per the local news agencies (via DW), the woman said she had no idea the recording was unlawful and had not acquired the music herself.

The writ was issued on Eric Clapton’s behalf, and the defendant was compelled to pay both parties’ legal costs, which totalled approximately €3,400 (£2,880).

If she keeps selling the copyrighted CD, she would face a €250,000 (£212,000) fine or six months in jail.

Eric Clapton has not made a public statement about the matter. The blues have had a rough year.
