Morgan Freeman has been interested in acting since he was 12 years old. In 1959, after serving in the military, Freeman relocated to Los Angeles. There, he continued to study acting at the renowned Pasadena Playhouse and, of course, at LACC.

After decades of acting, Freeman had his breakthrough in 1987 with the film “Street Smart,” for which he was nominated for an Academy Award. The prestige successes “Glory” and “Driving Miss Daisy” from 1989 guaranteed Morgan Freeman a place in the Hollywood firmament.

Morgan Freeman revealed in a 2011 interview with On Demand Entertainment that “yawning a lot” is one approach to achieving a deeper voice. Freeman stated, “It relaxes your throat and vocal cords, and as soon as they relax, your tone diminishes. The softer your voice, the better it will sound.”
