Khan trails Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper ($14.5 billion), Jones ($8.9 billion) and Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke ($8.2 billion) among NFL owners but is the wealthiest owner among AFC teams, topping Miami’s Stephen Ross ($7 billion).
Tepper, who has made his fortune through hedge funds, has headed the list of NFL owners since 2019. Prior to that, Seattle Seahawks owner Paul Allen, who co-founded Microsoft with Bill Gates, was first in net worth for the first seven years that Khan was the Jaguars owner.
Allen died in October of 2018 and the team is now owned by the Paul G. Allen Trust, which has given away much of the family’s wealth to charity.
Jones is the only owner on the list whose source of wealth is identified by Forbes as his team. Kroenke is involved in real estate.
