Robin Peter Kendall Bachman, born February 18, 1953, was a Canadian drummer and the younger brother of Randy Bachman, a guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He was the first drummer for the bands Brave Belt and Bachman-Turner Overdrive.
On the liner notes of Brave Belt and BTO records, he was also credited as “Robin” or “Rob”. Bachman learned to play the drums at home as a child, frequently accompanying his older brother Randy.
Randy offered Robbie the Brave Belt drumming job when he was 18 years old, and he accepted. Chad Allan and Fred Turner were also members of Brave Belt. After Allan left, another Bachman sibling, Tim, joined Brave Belt in 1972.
How did Robbie Bachman die?
Bachman died at the age of 69 on January 12, 2023.
His death was reported by his brother and bandmate, guitarist and singer Randy Bachman, albeit the cause of death has yet to be revealed.
In 2009, Fred Turner and Randy Bachman reunited and began producing a new album, “Bachman & Turner,” which was released in September 2010 to coincide with a global tour.
Robin Bachman and Blair Thornton had sued Randy Bachman in an attempt to prohibit him and Turner from performing under the Bachman-Turner Overdrive, or BTO, moniker.
