Rehan Aslam, the news director for Channel 7 Eyewitness News, died over the weekend, causing shock to many.
He worked for the Houston ABC station for six years until taking his dream job at WABC-TV in New York City last year.
He received his illness just a few months after taking over as director of the newsroom.
Aslam began working as a broadcaster for WEWS-TV in Cleveland, Ohio in 2001.
He began producing at WJW-TV in Cleveland and executive producing at WFLD-TV in Chicago the following year.
In 2014, Aslam was named assistant news director at Houston’s KTRK-TV.
