Bobby East, a former USAC National Midget Car and Silver Crown Series winner, died on July 13, 2022.
East won three USAC National Championships after quarters and Kenyon midgets, including the National Midget Championship in 2004 and back-to-back Silver Crown victories in 2012 and 2013.
How did Racer Bobby East die?
He died after being stabbed at a gas station on Westminster Avenue in Los Angeles. East was 37 years old at the time of his fatal stabbing.
The Hut 100 at Terre Haute Action Track, the Belleville Midget Nationals, and the Turkey Night Grand Prix at Irwindale Speedway in California are among East’s most memorable victories.
East raced virtually full-time in the same truck in 2006, when he was colleagues in the team’s driver development program with fellow rookie Marcos Ambrose. Despite missing the first two races of the season, East finished 23rd in points.
East raced part-time in the Busch Series with Brewco Motorsports in 2007, sharing time in the No. 27, No. 37, and No. 43 cars. After a change of ownership during the season, Brewco became Baker Curb Racing.
