Pete DuPre was a French World War II hero widely known as “Harmonica Pete“.

He was gained the name for performing the National Anthem at sporting events all throughout the country and the world.

It was his performance during a US Women’s World Cup soccer match that cemented his image as Harmonica Pete.

DuPre began playing the harmonica when he was under the age of ten and joined the school harmonica band when he was ten. It was a means for him to establish friends, without realising that he would end up touching someone.

Pete DuPre worked as a medic in the 114th General Hospital Unit during WWII, supporting his five-person family after his parents died when he was 17 years old. He then joined the Army and served three years overseas.

Pete sang the National Anthem at Madison Square Garden during the NBA’s Hoops for Troops night, as well as other athletic events.

He played his favourite harmonica for almost 80 years and recorded over 40 tunes on it at Paragon Studios.
