Prince Oberyn Martell, popularly known as the Red Viper of Dorne, was a member of House Martell, the dynasty that controlled Dorne, and the father of eight bastard girls known as the Sand Snakes. He also sat in the Dorne Small Council under Tommen I. He was Elia Martell’s younger brother as well as Doran Martell’s. He became a legend because of his prowess with the staff, passion for vengeance, and fluid sexuality.

Prince Oberyn, like the majority of House Martell, was referred to as “Prince” rather than “Lord.” He was Princess Elia Martell’s and Prince Doran Martell’s younger brother. Because of his skill with poisons and distinctive, deadly combat style, he was known as “the Red Viper.”
