A budding rapper named Big Scarr who was a member of Gucci Mane’s New 1017 Records has passed away. Only 22 years old, he.

On Thursday, around 7:00 p.m. EST, word of the Memphis rapper’s passing spread on social media (December 22). Later, Gucci Mane and Enchanting, a fellow artist on the 1017 label, posted on Instagram to confirm his demise.

With the collaboration tune “SoIcyBoyz” with fellow labelmates Pooh Shiesty and Foogiano as well as the solo cut “Make A Play,” Big Scarr (actual name Alexander Woods) made his professional debut on The New 1017 compilation album Gucci Mane Presents: So Icy Summer in July 2020. In the entire project, Scarr was one of just three artists to appear on a track by themselves.

Alexander Woods was raised in South Memphis’ Magnolia neighborhood after being born there on April 7, 2000.

How did Big Scarr get his name?

Woods was involved in an automobile accident when he was 16 and was flung through the window of his friend’s vehicle. He credited his mishap as the inspiration for his stage name, with the “Scarr” portion alluding to the scars he sustained as a result of the collision.
