Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Benjamin Agordzo, who was recently exonerated of all charges in the coup plot case, accuses Dominic Nitiwul, the Minister of Defense, of masterminding his trial.
Agordzo says Nitiwul attacked him because he pushed the administration to improve its security measures on a WhatsApp group. ACP Agordzo stated in a TV3 broadcast in Accra that he was threatened by the Minister, which made him voice his displeasure. Agordzo, feeling unhappy about the scenario, contacted Dr.
Adam Bonaa, a security analyst and WhatsApp platform administrator, asking for help. The allegations give Agordzo’s case additional controversy and raise concerns about the purpose of the court case as well as the involvement of well-known people.
“I protested why anybody should threaten me on this platform. I reported the issue to Adam Bona, who created the platform and whose name is on the platform. Adam Bona contacted him and came back to me to say that, well, he has spoken to him, that, look, this is an open platform therefore you should allow people to express their views” he stated.
ACP Agordzo claimed that Dominic Nitiwul was the one who initiated his arrest and followed legal proceedings in light of this background.
