A police request to send 22-year-old house helper Marku Kuame from their custody to prison has been granted by the Asokwa District Court.
Prosecutors are taking this action as they await word on the case from the Attorney General’s office.
For her suspected role in the death of Margaret Oppong, her 83-year-old boss, Marku Kuame is presently on trial.
On December 2, 2023, Ms. Oppong was discovered dead in her room in Ayeduase in the Oforikrom Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
Before the occurrence, Ms. Kuame had been working as a housekeeper for Ms. Oppong for three years.
According to family sources, Ms. Oppong allegedly threatened to have Kuame arrested after more than $5,000 was reported missing from the residence.
In addition, relatives of the deceased have stated that Kuame and her lover planned to kill Oppong after numerous complaints about money going missing were made.
Police prosecutors told the court on Friday that their investigations are now complete, and they are waiting for the Attorney General’s office to provide guidance.
As per the court’s ruling, Kuame, who was being imprisoned at the KNUST District Police Command, has now been transferred to the Kumasi Central Prisons.
The deceased’s sister, Georgina Prempeh, stated that the family expected justice to be served in this case.
