A mass shooting at the Allen Premium Outlets mall in Texas has left nine people dead and seven injured, with the shooter among the dead. The incident occurred on Saturday, with police responding to reports of an active shooter at around 3:30 pm.
Seven people were found dead at the scene, while two of the injured later died. Of the remaining victims, three are undergoing critical surgery, while four are in stable condition. The victims range in age from five to 61 years old.
Police have confirmed there is no longer an active threat, and multiple agencies are assisting with the investigation. The shooter is believed to have acted alone.
Police arriving on the scene were equipped with long guns and handguns, and witnesses reported seeing bullet holes in cars and mall windows. People took to social media to post videos of shoppers running from the scene, with gunshots audible in the background.
Several officials, including President Biden and Senator Ted Cruz, have offered their condolences to the families of the victims. The identities of the victims and shooter have yet to be revealed.
