Hinako Shibuno was qualified to take a final professional test in 2017, after graduating from high school, but she failed. She mostly performed on the step-up tour circuit in 2018.
Her lone JLPGA competition that year was the Earth Mondahmin Cup, which she qualified for after a successful Monday qualification.

Despite missing the cut, she scored a hole-in-one on the 9th hole on the opening day of the competition and received 6 million yen for the performance.
She passed the test and became a professional in July 2018.
Shibuno won the World Ladies Championship Salonpas Cup in May 2019, one of four major golf events for women on the LPGA of Japan Tour.
She was the sole female player on the Jt junior high school baseball team. She opted to focus on golf after winning the 2011 Okayama Prefecture Junior Golf Championship (junior high school level) on the advice of her baseball coach.
She enrolled at Sakuy High School in 2014, where she continued to play golf for the school. She also won the Chugoku Region Women’s Amateur Championship that year. She won the team competition at the National High School Golf Championship in 2015 as a member of the school squad.
