The suspect of the mass shooting that took place during an Independence Day parade in Highland Park, Illinois, the United States on Monday, July 4, 2022, has been charged with seven counts of murder according to Illinois State Attorney.
The shooting occurred in the early hours of Monday roughly 15 minutes after the parade had started. Seven people were killed and at least 46 others were injured. Officials say the suspect planned the mass shooting for weeks and had used a legally obtained weapon in the attack.
Eric Rinehart, who happens to be the Illinois State Attorney said on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, that the suspected gunman who has been identified as Robert E Crimo III, faces a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of parole if he is convicted.
