Highland Park parade shooting; Six of seven victims killed during the attack have been identified

In the early hours of Monday, July 4, 2022, a mass shooting took place during an Independence Day parade in Highland Park, Illinois, the United States. The sad incident is said to have occurred roughly 15 minutes after the parade had started.

Seven people according to the report were killed and at least 46 others were injured. Police earlier Tuesday, July 5, 2022, identified six of the seven victims killed in the shooting.

Jennifer Banek, Lake County Coroner, during the news conference read the list of names and the victims are; 64-year-old Katherine Goldstein of Highland Park, 35-year-old Irina McCarthy of Highland Park, 37-year-old Kevin McCarthy of Highland Park, 63-year-old Jacquelyn Sundheim of Highland Park, 88-year-old Stephen Straus of Highland Park and 78-year-old Nicolas Toledo-Zaragoza of Morelos, Mexico.

The suspect of the shooting who has been identified as Robert E. Crimo III, 21, is said to have shot his victims from a sniper’s perch on a rooftop above the parade in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park, Illinois. Officials said he had planned the attack for weeks.

He is said to have been charged with seven counts of first-degree murder, Lake County State’s Attorney Eric Rinehart announced during a news conference Tuesday evening.
