Hero Tito, whose real name was Heru Purwanto, died suddenly at the age of 35, just weeks after losing a knockout to James Mokoginta.
Purwanto was knocked out and went into a coma after losing the Indonesian lightweight title to Mokoginta on February 27.
Mokoginta threw a devastating uppercut with just over a minute left in the seventh round of their rematch, knocking Purwanto out.
The referee gave Purwanto a count, but he was still gravely damaged and unable to get back to his feet. The battle was then called off, and he slid back to the canvas.
As his opponent Mokoginta began to seem anxious, paramedics entered the ring after Purwanto had been down for some minutes before being brought out on a stretcher.
Purwanto was brought to a nearby hospital following the loss, where physicians attempted to save his life, but he died on March 7 after a week in a coma.
