Henry Franklin Winkler is an American actor, comedian, author, executive producer, and director. He was born on October 30, 1945, in the West Side of New York City’s Manhattan borough.

After becoming well-known for his role as Arthur “Fonzie” Fonzarelli on the American television program Happy Days, Winkler has gained recognition as a character actor for roles such as Arthur Himbry in Scream, Coach Klein in The Waterboy, and Barry Zuckerkorn in Arrested Development.

On the NBC series Better Late Than Never, he also rose to fame as a reality television star in 2016. Winkler has won a Critics Choice Award, two Daytime Emmys, two Golden Globes, and a Primetime Emmy.

Winkler was brought up according to Conservative Judaism’s customs. Winkler’s family vacationed at Lake Mahopac in New York during his boyhood, and when he was a teenager, he worked as a water skiing instructor at Blue Mountain camps.

Henry Winkler’s Wife and Children

In 1976, Winkler and Stacey Furstman met in a Los Angeles clothing boutique. In 1978, two years after the meeting, they were married in the synagogue where Winkler had his bar mitzvah.

Max and Zoe are their two children. Jed Weitzman, Stacey’s child from a previous marriage, is raised by the couple.

Henry Winkler’s Parents and Siblings

Henry Winkler was born to Anna Marie and Harry Irving Winkler. During the emergence of Nazi Germany, Winkler’s parents, Anna Marie and merchant Harry Irving Winkler lived in Berlin.

His father decided that it was time to leave Germany in 1939 as a result of the intensifying anti-Jewish sentiment. Henry said: “At the time, my father, Harry, told my mother, Ilse, that we were flying to the United States on a brief business trip,” but after his Uncle Helmut was taken by the Nazis, they decided to stay.

Soon after arriving, his parents settled in New York City, where his father established a new version of his German company, which bought and sold wood.
