Henry Kissinger, the enormously powerful former secretary of state, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 100. Kissinger was known for his astute diplomacy, but he also faced criticism from around the world and charges of war crimes for his pivotal role in escalating American involvement in Vietnam and American bombing of Cambodia.

On Wednesday, Henry Kissinger passed away at his Connecticut home. His reason of death, though, was not stated.
Over the course of his lengthy career, the well-known diplomat has advised twelve presidents, including Joe Biden, and shared the Nobel Prize for mediating the conclusion of the Vietnam War.
His opponents throughout the world portrayed him as a war criminal, but his disregard for human rights and his determination to uphold US business interests at all costs also shaped his legacy.
His two children from his previous marriage to Ann Fleischer, Elizabeth and David, as well as his wife Nancy Maginnes Kissinger, survive him.
