Since 2005, Enrique Roberto “Henry” Cuellar, an American politician and attorney (born September 19, 1955), has represented Texas’s 28th congressional district in the United States. He belongs to the Democratic Party. His constituency stretches from the Rio Grande to the outskirts of San Antonio.
The most recent Democrat to hold a statewide post in Texas as of 2022 is Cuellar, who spent 14 years in the Texas House of Representatives from 1987 to 2001. He also served a brief period of time as secretary of state in 2001.
