The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, has revealed that the Disciplinary Committee has wrapped up its probe into the Real Tamale United (RTU) player impersonation incident.

The issue arose when RTU used unqualified players during their Ghana Premier League match against Dreams FC, substituting boycotting players’ names on the match list.

This controversy unfolded during a rescheduled match for matchday 28, as RTU players refused to participate due to six months of unpaid wages. In retaliation, the club fielded new players while maintaining the names of the absent players.

As a result, the GFA has formally accused RTU and certain officials for their actions.

Twum stated on Peace FM, “We charged RTU with the prosecution admitting the wrongdoings. The case was then forwarded to the Disciplinary Committee for further action.”

“The Disciplinary Committee has concluded its investigation and will soon unveil its conclusions. This matter is significant since RTU utilized different players under the same names as those registered for the season,” he added.

“It’s important to note that the Disciplinary Committee has diligently addressed this issue. Although cases like this can be prolonged, let’s remember the investigation involving Ashgold and Inter Allies took a year, ultimately leading to penalties for both teams. Likewise, we anticipate a fair resolution in this case, paving the way for progress,” Twum concluded.
