Hearts of Oak NCC PRO Confident Despite Loss to Asante Kotoko
After suffering a 2-0 defeat to rivals Asante Kotoko in their Ghana Premier League week 31 clash, Hearts of Oak NCC PRO Kobby Jones has acknowledged that their opponents should have scored more goals against them at the Baba Yara Stadium.
The match, which saw Ugandan international Steven Mukwala netting a brace for the Porcupine Warriors, highlighted some defensive weaknesses in the Phobians’ gameplay. Despite this setback, Jones remains positive about Hearts of Oak’s chances of staying clear of relegation, as they are currently just two points above the drop zone.
In an interview with Kessben TV, Jones assured fans that the team is working on improving their performance and will not let relegation become a reality. He admitted that their defense struggled against Kotoko’s attacks but emphasized that they are determined to turn things around next season.
“Things are not going well but I can assure our fans that we won’t go to relegation. I think that is their main worry – we won’t go. Next season, things will change. Yesterday Kotoko at some point feared us – they should have scored four goals, yes. I am a Hearts supporter because anytime they will attack us, we are jittery,” Jones stated.
He also pointed out that their midfield lacked potency in attack, leading to a disjointed offensive strategy. Despite the defeat, Jones maintains confidence in the team’s ability to bounce back and finish the season on a high note.
