Accra Hearts of Oak are reportedly in negotiations to secure the services of goalkeeper Benjamin Asare from Great Olympics as they look to reinforce their goalkeeping department for the upcoming season.
Asare, who ended the Ghana Premier League campaign with the most clean sheets, was seen at Hearts of Oak’s training base in Pobiman last Friday. This has sparked rumors of a potential move to the Phobians.
According to transfer expert Mohammed Shaban, head coach Aboubakar Ouattara is in favor of bringing Asare to the club to provide competition for the goalkeeping position. The club had also set their sights on Accra Lions’ Andrews Owusu and Dreams FC’s Solomon Agbasi, although it appears that a move for Agbasi has fallen through.
Hearts of Oak experienced goalkeeper woes last season, rotating between three shot-stoppers throughout the campaign. The addition of Asare could bring stability to the position and boost the team’s chances of success in the new season.
In a related development, Asare’s teammate Razak Kassim is also said to be in discussions with Hearts of Oak over a potential transfer. While talks are ongoing, the club is hopeful of finalizing a deal before their rivals Asante Kotoko make a move for him.
Meanwhile, Issah Kuka is reportedly on his way out of the club after expressing his desire to join another team. His departure would open up space for new signings and further strengthen the squad ahead of the upcoming season.
