Bawah announced his plan to wed Zinabu as his third bride seven years ago when he first met her during one of his visits to Mfensi and learned that they belonged to the same tribe.
However, after a few years of cohabitation without the man providing the dowry, Zinabu decided to end the union.
“He wanted to know my opinion after telling me one day that he plans to pursue a fourth wife. Nevertheless, I vehemently disagreed with him since, for the previous seven years, he has refused to pay my bride price and has instead expressed interest in marrying someone else. I find this unacceptable,” Zinabu said on Nhyira FM’s Obra Show.
Zinabu was enraged by Bawah’s desire to wed another lady and demanded payment from him for her to have her way. But Zinabu’s proposal will not go over well with Bawah.
“I went to the North and performed all duties as custom demands when her father died. Afterwards, I wanted to marry her in the North but she refused. Since then, any time there is little misunderstanding she will pack her belongings and go live in a container.
“I can count about 20 times of such. For the past six months now she has been living there. I want to marry her but she has been using one thing or the other as an excuse and if she is not interested in marrying again, I have nothing to say but I will not compensate her,” said Bawah.
But Zinabu claims that having to deal with a fourth wife is not something she would prefer to do, even if it means not getting paid.
