Christiana Awuni, a popular Kumawood actress, has slammed the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, for remarks he made regarding Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer’s running partner.
Chairman Wontumi, the NPP’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, is accused of making disparaging statements about Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, claiming she was secretly married to Mr. Mahama and hailed from the Northern Region rather than the Central Region.
In a live interview with Accra FM on March 27, the actress accused Chairman Wontumi of being tribalistic and lacking respect for accomplished folks.
“I’m not sure if it’s because he has money or not, but he talks anyhow. He shows no respect, and that man speaks without intelligence.
“This is not the first time he has spoken such things about her. If it hadn’t been for politics, would he have been able to look her in the eyes and say such things?” She reacted angrily.
Christiana Awuni also threatened to take Chairman Wontumi to court if he pursued the NDC running mate again.
“This is the second time he has verbally abused Prof, and she has not responded. I’m giving him a warning. If he makes any derogatory remarks about her, the entire country will know about it!! “I’ll take him to court and let him spend all of his money on lawyers,” she continued.
The ‘Perfect Love’ actress joins dozens of other people and civil society organizations in demanding an unequivocal apology from the NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman.
